PROJECT 2A: DOUBLE EXPOSURE (10%)
LECTURES
Double Exposure
The assignment we are about to undertake is related to double exposure.
Double exposure is a photo processing method that is very full of artistic design, with a wide range of operating space and applications.
We can freely choose the photos and materials we want to use according to our own ideas.
Colour Theory
We have learned that there are generally two color display modes for images: RGB and CMYK.
- RGB (red, green, blue) is used for display on the device screen.
- CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) is used for printing.
HUE: the most basic of color terms and denotes an object’s color.
SHADE: a hue to which black has been added. For example, red + black = burgundy.
TINT: a hue to which has been added. For example, red + = pink.
TONE: a color to which black and (or grey) have been added.
ANALOGUS: 3 colors located right next to each other on the color wheel.
COMPLEMENTARY: colors are opposites on the color wheel.
SPLIT-COMPLEMENTARY: involves the use of three colors. Start with one color, find its complement and then use the two colors on either side of it.
TRIADIC:Triadic colors are evenly spaced around the color wheel and tend to be very bright and dynamic.
Color also involves the field of psychology. Therefore, it is divided into cool colors, warm colors, and so on.
PROJECT 2A DOUBLE EXPOSURE:
- Class Tutorial Exercise- Your own Double Exposure version
DOUBLE EXPOSURE
1. EXERCISE 1
We need to use the images provided in Google Drive to complete this task.
Final Outcome
2. EXERCISE 2
- In Exercise 2, we are asked to use our own photos to create double exposure images. I chose my previous photos as the original portrait images, and then chose pictures of my hometown house for fusion. I think this is very meaningful for commemoration.

Black and White
- In the end, I tried a lot of filters and compared them to choose the best version.
Final Work
Description:
In the end, I chose to use a black and White filter, which I found very charming and had the characteristics of Chinese ink painting.
In the background, I chose the eaves of an old house in my hometown and added very old electrical poles. I also added rainwater to the background. The final product met my expectations, and this picture will always remind me of my background and longing for my hometown.

Reflection
Experience - This task was more difficult than I had imagined, mainly because the video was very fast, and I had to slow down the playback speed and watch it repeatedly to learn the correct double exposure production method.
Observations - Overall, most of the tools and techniques we need to use in this task have been taught in previous tutorials. However, depending on the different usage methods and purposes, the final presentation effect will also vary greatly. On the other hand, the freedom of this mission is very high, and in order to produce beautiful works, one must have good aesthetics and creativity.
Findings - Completing this task gives me a great sense of accomplishment because I used my own photos as the theme to complete the entire work. In addition, I have found that we should use tools during production, such as adjusting the brush density of the eraser tool to help me over expose the edges of the double exposure effect, making everything more natural.
