REFLECTION

Experiences:
This semester's font design module is a fulfilling and challenging learning journey. Although it is one of the courses that I have invested the most time in, it has also provided me with lot of space for my learning and creativity.
From the font expression to font design, each task has given me a deep understanding of font design on both technical and artistic perspectives. Softwares such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and FontLab have become such essential design tools for me, especially Illustrator, Its intuitive interface and versatility make me feel it's useful and powerful.
During the final task, I independently designed a font, which not only made me feel accomplished, but also deepened my intreste to font design and typography. The feedback from Mr. Vinod, the weekly lecturer, also helps me continuously improve my design and maintain a good progress.
I feel this course is not only challenging, but also brings abundant rewards, laying a solid foundation for my design career.

Observations:
Learning font design has allowed me to deeply appreciate the power of details. Even minor alignment, spacing, or composition adjustments can significantly enhance the readability and aesthetics of a design. The course has made me pay more attention to fonts and layout in my daily life, and my observation skills have been improved either.
At the same time, I realized that design is not only about visual aesthetics, but also emphasizes practicality and accessibility. Seeing the unique insights and innovative methods of my classmates on the same task has also inspired me to deeply understand the diversity and creativity of design.

Findings:
My biggest gains from the module was realization that simplicity is often the core strength of a good design. For example, the goal of font design at the last task is not only to create visual impact, but also to ensure clear and efficient communication of information.
At the same time, I realize the importance of the design process, which is not only a means of implementing ideas, but also a key link in perfecting creativity.
In addition, I have gained a deeper understanding of the history and technical background of font design, which has provided strong support for my creativity. Most importantly, I have found myself interested in typography more and I wish to continuously learn and grow in this field.
