LECTURES

Week 10 (Lecture 10):

In this task, we need to attempt to learn and use Adobe After Effects to create an animated loop. Below is the demonstration video provided by Mr. Fauzi. (Live demonstration of After Effects)

How to create loop animation for IG Stories: https://youtu.be/HQL5ntLlHTg

INSTRUCTION

2. Import the W10_ANIMATE.psd into Adobe After Effects.

3. Create a composition setting 1080 px (Width) x 1920 px (Height), Duration 15 second

4. Create a keyframe animation to the layers using Position (P), Scale (S) & Masking path.

5. Render output: Quicktime (.MOV) or .MP4

6. Upload your exercise into your Youtube Channel.

7. Update your progress and video to your E-Portfolio blog.

8. Attach your E-Portfolio link on this Submission.

PROGRESS

According to the steps in the video tutorial, I first created several folders and named each one appropriately. Then, I imported the downloaded PSD file into the second PSD folder.

I added different animation effects to each layer according to the steps. However, it's worth noting that no matter what animation effect is chosen, the image in the video at the final 15s should be the same as at 0s. Therefore, the most convenient method is to copy the settings from 0s and paste them at 15s, ensuring a loop is formed.

RELECTIONS

Experiences:

As it was my first time using Adobe Effects, I found it quite intriguing, yet also quite complex. By watching Mr. Fauzi's demonstration video, I gradually grasped the very basic usage methods, but I could sense that this was merely the tip of the iceberg. On the other hand, the interface of AE is quite different from that of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, so it requires more time to explore.

Observation:

I find the animation production process incredibly fascinating. When you combine the animation effects of all the layers together, the resulting animation is even more interesting than you could have imagined.

Findings:

This is a software that greatly tests coordination ability, because when you need to integrate many layers with animations, you need to consider whether each animation matches and whether the timeline is symmetrical.
