INSTRUCTIONS

Brief Recap
In task 3, we were to select one of the 3 ideas we proposed in Task 2 and create a work of design. Develop the idea through colour exploration, composition, typeface, positioning, etc., while applying design principles.
  • A4 size, JPEG format, 300dpi pixel size
  • <Your Name_ Title of Design_ Task 3>
  • Write a 200 words rationale:
  • - i) the decisions made in your design
  • - ii) the meaning/purpose of the design
  • - iii) the design principles that are employed to create the design

TITLE: Forget Me Not

RATIONALE:

 i) The decisions made in my design:

For my final task, I made a digital drawing of a girl playing a violin in a forest with blue flowers and green trees. I picked soft colors like green, blue, and gray to make everything look calm and nice. I choose to put the girl at the position which follows the guideline of rule of third, so she’d be the most notable object in the picture you see, and for the character design, she is in a dress that looks like it’s moving in the wind. For the forest, it has tall, skinny trees with lots of leaves to make it feel like a real nature spot, and I added blue flowers on the ground to make it prettier and add some color. I kept the style simple and kind of cartoony because I wanted it to feel dreamy and happy.

ii) The meaning/purpose of the design:

I made this artwork to show how music can make you feel peaceful and happy, even in a forest. The girl playing the violin stands for finding calmness through music in a natural place. The blue flowers look like forget-me-nots to me, and they mean memories and hope, which makes the picture feel more special. I wanted people to look at it and feel relaxed, like they can hear the soft violin music mixing with the quiet forest sounds. My goal was to create a calm, magical moment that brings together music, nature, and feelings.

iii) The design principles that are employed to create the design:

I used a few design ideas to make my drawing work well. Contrast shows up because the girl’s gray dress stands out against the bright green trees and blue flowers, making her easy to notice. Emphasis is on the girl with the violin—she’s in the middle with space around her, so your eyes go to her first. Balance isn’t even; the trees and flowers on the sides balance out the girl in the center, making it look natural and not too perfect. Repetition happens with the straight lines of the trees and the blue flowers spread around, giving the picture a nice flow and feel. Movement comes from the girl’s dress that looks like it’s blowing and her pose with the violin, showing she’s playing music. Harmony & Unity are there because I used soft colors and a gentle style, so the trees, flowers, and girl all fit together in a calm, happy way.

FEEDBACK
Week 6 :
  • Could change a background or environment like city or ruins for the development.
  • Need references.
Week 7 :
  • Development is different from the progress of producing different ideas in task 2.
  • Need more development and progress of work.
