Weekly Progress
Week 1 - Week 3
- After deciding to make a game, I conceived four projects. My teacher advised me to be realistic and not spend too much time researching gameplay. I then refined the projects by finding relevant resources and established the game's world-building.
Week 4
- The game's world was designed with main characters and antagonists.
Week 5
- A color scheme was determined for the previously designed character.
Week 6
- As per the teacher's requirements, two new characters were improved and designed: a villain in a monster form and a new saintess image.
Week 7
- A color scheme was determined for the villainous monster design.
- Several weapons were designed.
Week 8
- A completely new set of original characters was designed, goddesses not found in the original Divine Comedy. The two are the goddess of wind and the goddess of night.
Week 9
- A completely new set of original characters was designed, featuring goddesses not found in the original Divine Comedy. These two goddesses are the goddess of music and the goddess of the sun.
Week 10
- A color scheme was determined for the designed goddess image.
Week 11
- After communicating with the instructor, we designed the environment where the goddess resides. The first is the environment where the goddess of wind resides.
Week 12
- After determining the style, the environment for the other three goddesses was designed.
- The flags in each environment maintain the consistency of the work while incorporating representative symbols that represent the unique style of each goddess.
Week 13
- Color schemes and unique atmospheres were determined for the four environments.

REFLECTION
This Major Project focused on developing characters and environments for a game inspired by The Divine Comedy. My main contribution was creating the visual designs for Dante, Virgil, Lucifer, Beatrice, four original goddesses, and their related environments.
Throughout the project, I learned that effective character design requires more than costumes and visual symbols. Personality must also be communicated through silhouette, facial expression, body language, props, and colour. I also simplified unnecessary details to make the designs clearer and more suitable for 3D modelling and independent game production.
For the environments, I developed four distinct locations based on each goddess’s theme. I considered atmosphere, landmarks, terrain, pathways, and possible gameplay functions rather than focusing only on visual appearance. Repeated feedback and revisions helped improve the consistency between the characters, environments, and overall art direction.
Overall, this project strengthened my understanding of character design, environment design, visual storytelling, iteration, and production limitations. In future projects, I would establish the visual direction and gameplay requirements earlier to make the design process more efficient.
